ARGONNE EXERCISE CLUB CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE I – NAME
The name of this organization shall be the Argonne Exercise
Club.
ARTICLE II – AIMS
Section 1 – The club shall be an exercise club.
Section 2 – The purpose of the club shall be to promote better health
and physical fitness through exercise.
ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP
Employees and/or retirees of Argonne National Laboratory,
Department of Energy (Chicago Operations Office), Argonne Universities
Association and New Brunswick Laboratory, Argonne, IL, and all
consultants, loanees, and other persons associated with and/or assigned
to the work of Argonne National Laboratory and members of their
immediate families shall be eligible for membership.
ARTICLE IV – DUES, ASSESSMENTS and REIMBURSEMENTS
Section 1 – Club dues shall be a minimum of $1.00 per year for each
member.
Section 2 – Club dues shall be determined by a simple majority of club
members present at an annual or special meeting.
Section 3 – Yearly membership dues of $30.00, are due February 15 of each year and payable to the Treasurer.  After July 15, membership dues will be reduced to $15.00 for the remainder of the year.  Club dues will be waived for club officers and  instructors.
Section 4 – Assessments may be made on participants for special
activities/equipment.
Section 5 – Club instructors may be reimbursed for continuing education and/or certification
up to a total of $100.00 per year per instructor. Receipts are required.
ARTICLE V – OFFICERS
Section 1 – The officers of the club shall be the President,
Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and shall form the Executive
Committee.
Section 2 – All officers shall be active members of the Argonne Club as
that term is defined under the bylaws of the Argonne Club.
Section 3 – The President shall be chief executive of the club. The
President shall coordinate and supervise the total club program and
shall preside at club and executive meetings. The President shall
appoint all committees and shall represent the club, as required, at
meetings of the Argonne Club. The President shall also act as delegate
to meetings of interclub organizations concerned with exercise and
fitness.
Section 4 – The Vice-President shall assist the President in carrying
out the club responsibilities and serve in his/her absence. The
Vice-President shall assist the President in planning all club programs
and activities. The Vice-President shall act as alternate or second
delegate to meetings of interclub organizations.
Section 5 – The Secretary shall keep all records of the club, serve all
meeting notices, keep a record of attendance at activities, and be
responsible for correspondence.
Section 6 – The Treasurer shall keep and prepare all financial records
and transactions. The Treasurer shall be a member of any committees
concerned with finances or fund raising. The Treasurer shall annually
submit a membership roster to the Argonne Club along with $1.00 per
each member in the club. The Argonne Club shall be periodically
informed of changes in membership and provided with $1.00 for each new
eligible employee joining the organization.
Section 7 – The officers shall appoint other club members to carry out
additional functions as defined in the bylaws.
ARTICLE VI – MEETINGS
Section 1 – Meetings of the club officers shall be held as necessary.
Section 2 – Special meetings may be called at the request of the
President or by petition of 10 members. The purpose of the special
meeting shall be stated in the call and no other business transacted.
Section 3 – A quorum shall be 20% of the members of the club or 10
members, whichever is greater.
Section 4 – Club business shall be determined by a simple majority of
club members present and voting.
ARTICLE VII – ACTIVITIES
Section 1 – Participation in exercise programs/activities shall be at
the participant’s own risk.
Section 2 – Participation in club activities shall not be limited to
club members. Each guest may participate in not more than three club
exercise programs/activities in any club year.
Section 3 – A representative from Argonne Employee Benefits shall be
informed of all activities and communications.
ARTICLE VIII – ELECTIONS
Section 1 – Election and seating of all club officers shall be conducted
annually. The election shall be by email ballot and from open
nominations. A majority of responding club members shall elect in all
cases.
Section 2 – The term of office shall be for one year beginning on
January 1.
Section 3 – A vacancy in office shall be filled for the remainder of the
term by appointment by the remaining club officers.
ARTICLE IX – AMENDMENTS
No proposed amendment shall be acted upon until it has been
presented in writing to the membership at least 30 days prior to the
election of new officers. This constitution may be amended in any
respect by an affirmative vote of a majority of responding club members.
ARTICLE X – PROPERTY
In the event the Exercise Club disbands, all funds and other
properties in its custody shall be turned over to the Argonne Club.
