Negotiation and Influential Power Workshop

The Postdoctoral Program Office will offer an interactive Workshop on Negotiation and Influential Power on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Building 241, Room D172.

Facilitator: Joseph Bernstein, PhD, MBA, Senior Director, Financial and Grant Services, Division of the Humanities, The University of Chicago. Joe is an Argonne Postdoctoral Alumnus, Communicator and past PSA leader. He recently earned his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Overview of Workshop:

Workshop participants will learn the basics of two different types of negotiation, develop their own understanding of a negotiation framework, and have an opportunity to practice negotiating via an interactive negotiation simulation. Via this workshop, participants will:

* Understand the basic features of distributive and integrative negotiation

* Learn an effective negotiation framework applicable to the real world

* Experiment with power and influence by participating in a negotiation simulation

The workshop agenda is as follows:

1:00 PM Introduction and icebreaker activity

1:30 PM Interactive negotiations seminar

2:15 PM Negotiation simulation activity

3:45 PM Simulation debrief and closing remarks

4:00 PM Workshop ends
