LGBTQ+ Friendly Mental Health Support

If you’re in crisis and need immediate help, call 911.

Illinois Masonic Hospital in Boystown runs a 24-hour crisis line at (773)296-5380.

If you are not in crisis but need someone to talk to, the GLBT National Help Center runs a phone support line (888-843-4564) and also offers online chatting (http://www.glbthotline.org/).   The phones/computers are staffed by trained volunteers from the LGBTQ community.  They can’t handle a crisis, but can be good to talk to if you are in a safe place, but just need some support.

Argonne National Laboratory’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has a counselor, Andrea Fischer, who is on site two days a week in Building 201/Health & Employee Wellness (HEW).  Appointments can sometimes be scheduled for the same day through (800)456-6327.
