By Harold Gaines, president, Argonne African American Employee Resource Group
On Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, the Argonne African American Employee Resource Group (AAA-ERG) urges our lab to reflect upon the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on what would have been his 91st birthday.
Dr. King was a tireless champion of equality and inclusivity, and we can see the fruits of his labor in Argonne’s own Core Values. Through respect, we embrace diversity, as King fought for. Through integrity, we take responsibility for our actions, and with teamwork, we include and inspire others. A strong example of compassionate leadership, Dr. King showed us how to live in service to others and find peaceful resolution to conflict. We are still living and learning from his example. Please join us as we remember his life, his legacy, and his impact on us and that of the next generation.
“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” MLK
