Bob will be giving a presentation at the next Argonne Amateur Radio Club meeting, “Meshtastic: What’s In It For Me?” Meshtastic is a new mesh radio networking system that uses inexpensive, unlicensed UHF radios with surprising range. This highly-visual presentation will include an introduction to Meshtastic, but will also delve pretty deeply into how it works, mesh building, tools and techniques, ham privileges, and the state of the mesh in Chicago and the suburbs.
It’s Wednesday, May 7, at noon. Note that the blog linked to above still lists a meeting site inside Argonne security, but the club has recently and thoughtfully moved the meetings to the Argonne Welcome Center, which is outside security. Use the main gate entrance from Cass Ave, but take a right just before you get to the main gate. Set your GPS for 9700 S Cass Ave, Lemont, IL 60439. Beware that Apple Maps will incorrectly tell you to go through security, but Google Maps gets it right. Once inside the Welcome center, you can just take a right and go directly to the meeting area without going through the lines to the left. See you there!
