The club

 “The Argonne Amateur Radio Club”

Back in 1958 our club was formed in a somewhat rag-tag manner under the direction of our first president Dr. Norman Frigerio, K9HHJ, there were about 9 members then. Currently there are about 30 members in the AARC.

The Argonne Amateur Radio club maintains the oldest, and one of the more popular 2 meter repeaters in the Chicagoland area. W9ANL  145.190-

Our goal is to promote the interest in all parts of Amateur radio. Whether it is emergency communication, long distance contacts, contesting, or just chatting on the local repeater. There is something for everyone in the club.

Employment at Argonne National Laboratory is not required to become an Auxiliary member.

We would like to encourage everyone that is interested in Ham Radio to get involved with the club, there will be more exciting events to come and for those of you that are not Hams, please get in touch with someone in the club or the American Radio Relay League at http://www.arrl.org/ for more info on how to become a Ham. It can be a lot of fun.
