About the Hispanic/ Latino Club (HLC) Employee Resource Group (ERG)

History

The Argonne Hispanic/Latino Club (AHLC) was formed in 2003 to formalize what were regular social gatherings of friends and colleagues within the Laboratory. From its onset, the AHLC activities centered on celebrating the Hispanic culture in its rich, diverse forms and included charitable donations within Chicagoland and internationally. The elected members quickly expanded the scope of activities to include community outreach to introduce STEM careers to the Hispanic communities around Argonne and to provide need-based scholarships to our brightest, young minds from these communities. We continue to evolve to best serve Argonne’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and our rich Hispanic communities and to inspire young minds to pursue the rewarding and challenging careers in STEM and other positions of power for the betterment of our great nation.

Mission

To promote fellowship, share the richness and diversity of the Hispanic/Latino cultures, network as professionals and coworkers, and share ideas and resources that benefit the Hispanic Latino community and all employees at the Argonne Site.

Outreach

Our ERG offers services to the Hispanic/Latino communities of greater Chicagoland. We support our community through food and clothing drives, holiday toy drives, donations to local charities, and by providing guest speakers at school career fairs. We also provide scholarship funding for Hispanic and Latino students from the Chicagoland area. Read more about our scholarship program here.
