The Argonne Hispanic-Latino Club has awarded five scholarships to Chicago students in United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) Charter Schools, which will defray the costs of their high-school entry fees.
The awards, totaling $1,575, are based on the students’ grades and financial need. The Club has awarded $7,000 in scholarships since its inception in 2003.
UNO comprises community groups, block clubs and churches organized to fulfill the developmental needs of the Hispanic immigrant community in Chicago. It is the largest organization of its kind in the region, dedicated to the successful assimilation of Hispanics into American society. UNO currently operates a network of 13 charter schools, serving more than 6,500 students and families each year.
