ANL’s On Site MET Tower

ANL has had its own MET tower collecting weather data since 1950. In 1989, the MET tower was moved
a few hundred meters west to its current location at North 41 42′ 04″ West 87 59′ 42″ at an elevation of
230m (755 ft) above sea level. The MET tower is 60m (197 ft) tall and is used to record a number of
meteorological data including:
• 60m – Wind speed, direction and temperature
• 10m – Wind speed, direction, temperature and barometric pressure
