The Argonne African American Black Club (AABC) awarded its 1st annual scholarships to two deserving graduating high school students last month on April 23rd , 2013.  Both students attend Lindblom Math & Science Academy, and have expressed interest in pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).

The AABC solicited feedback from counselors at several Chicago Public High Schools and some surrounding Suburban High Schools to provide us with applications from their schools’ top candidates to compete for the scholarships.  The High Schools solicited were: Dwight D. Eisenhower (Blue Island), Chicago Vocational Career Academy, Lindblom Math & Science Academy, Richards High School (Oaklawn), and Shepard High School (Palos Heights).

This year’s recipients are, Shacara Samuels and Sebastian Despiau, both from Lindblom Math and Science Academy. Winners have been notified and formal presentation will be made at a future date.
