Effective April 16, 2021, Lynda Soderholm will be taking on the position of Interim Chemical Sciences and Engineering (CSE) Division Director.
Lynne is department head for Actinide, Geochemical and Separations Sciences in CSE and an Argonne Distinguished Fellow. She has made many fundamental contributions to understanding the chemistry of lanthanides and actinides. Her research has focused on methods for isolating lanthanide and actinide elements from complex mixtures. Her recent projects use machine learning to understand the influence of complex molecular structuring in solutions. She received a University of Chicago Board of Governors’ Distinguished Performance Award in 2009 and became a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2013. She was awarded a PhD in Chemistry from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
