The luminescence spectrum of a bent uranyl complex with chloride ligands and 1,10-phenanthroline ligands has been experimentally recorded and computed by vibrationally resolved ab initio calculations. The bending of uranyl in UO2Cl2(phen)2 and in the UO2Cl2 complex yields a denser spectrum with vibronically induced excitations of the uranyl bending mode.
