Inaugural Outstanding Staff Mentor Award

mentoring puzzle

As a world-class laboratory that is committed to excellence and innovation, strong mentoring relationships are critical to provide all employees with the organizational support they need to achieve their full potential. To reinforce the high value the laboratory places on strong mentoring relationships, the laboratory will now offer an Outstanding Staff Mentor Award. This honor will recognize the efforts of an individual employee who has demonstrated commitment to outstanding mentorship and who has been a dedicated advocate for advancing and mentoring his or her colleagues.

Each of us has a responsibility to provide guidance and encouragement to the next generation of mission support staff, scientists, engineers and researchers. This award extends the Outstanding Postdoctoral Supervisor and Outstanding Postdoctoral Mentor award series conceived by the Postdoctoral Society of Argonne and gives us an opportunity to recognize mentoring as an important part of leadership for all employees.

All employees at Argonne are invited to nominate a mentor for the award. Each employee may nominate only one person and will have the option of being anonymous. Self-nominations are prohibited.

The formal call for nominations will be announced in January 2014. During the holiday break, consider nominating a colleague who has most influenced your career here at Argonne.

Please direct preliminary inquiries to Gender Diversity Specialist Erin L. Thomas ([email protected]; ext. 2-3346).
